Why Join?
Susan and John Monson have been devoted Festival supporters since 2009. “Our motivation for joining the Encore Society was to contribute to the continuing viability of the ‘symphony,’ as it was called in those days,” Sue shared. “I want it to remain vital long after I can no longer be here to enjoy it.”
During her time on the Board of Directors—and especially as Board President—Sue led outreach efforts to grow the Encore Society and succeeded in significantly expanding its membership.

Sue’s passion for the Encore Society also stems from its focus. “Gifts to the Festival’s endowment ensure the long-term financial stability of the organization,” she said.
Among the Monsons’ favorite Festival memories is the time spent working with Music Director Alasdair Neale, an enthusiastic Board, and a wonderful and supportive staff. Each summer, they look forward to the music, the friendships, and the shared joy of the season.
Thank you, Sue and John, for joining the Encore Society to help ensure that the Sun Valley Music Festival will continue to be a part of the fiber of the community for generations to come!

Gifting assets not covered by your will — like 401(k) or IRA accounts — may help your heirs avoid unwanted taxes, even if you’re below the estate tax threshold.
Popular tax-smart gifts
Many people are increasingly choosing to give non-cash assets, so they can have a bigger impact at less cost to them.
